CINCINNATI – After more than a week layoff, University of Cincinnati women's basketball will return to competition on Sunday when it welcomes the Memphis Tigers to Saint Ursula Academy Gymnasium & Convocation Center for a 2 p.m. tipoff. Admission will be free of charge as part of the Experience UC initiative.

// TEMPORARY HOME(S)
Due to the current, $87-million renovation of Fifth Third Arena, the Bearcats will play all home contests off campus this year. In the regular season, UC will play two games at Cincinnati State – the Nov. 13 home opener against Slippery Rock and the Nov. 27 meeting with St. Francis (Pa.) – with the remaining games played at Saint Ursula Academy Gymnasium & Convocation Center (SUA). 
 
// STUDENT SHUTTLE
UC students are invited to enjoy a free bus ride to the game. The bus will depart from the Bearcat statue on campus at 1 p.m. on Sunday. Free student shuttles to home UC women's basketball games will continue throughout the season.
 
// GAME PROMOTIONS
Sunday' game will celebrate Signature Sunday in which Bearcats players and coaches will be available for autographs following the game. In addition, UC women's basketball trading cards will be given away to fans.
 
// GOING LIVE
Aside from the Dec. 17 game against Ohio State on ESPN2 and the Feb. 17 game versus Tulsa on the American Digital Network, all home games in 2017-18 will be streamed live on BearcatsTV free of charge. // THE SERIES
Sunday's matchup will be the 52nd all-time meeting between the two teams with Memphis holding a 35-16 series advantage. The Bearcats have won the last two matchups including, most recently, a 68-57 home victory last season on Feb. 18, 2017 inside Fifth Third Arena. In the triumph, the Bearcats were led by 19 points and 13 rebounds from forward Shanice Johnson (Philadelphia, Pa./Cardinal O'Hara/Monroe CC) who helped the Red & Black sweep the season series. In games played in Cincinnati, the Tigers do hold the upper hand with a 12-10 all-time edge.
 
// LAST TIME OUT
UC (11-7, 3-2 AAC) won its second-straight game on Jan. 13 when it topped the Temple Owls, 80-72, inside Saint Ursula Academy Gymnasium & Convocation Center.
 
Looking to piece together back-to-back AAC wins, the Red & Black went back and forth with the visitors in the opening quarter, only to fall behind late with a 24-17 deficit going into the second period. UC answered in the following quarter, tying the game midway through the stanza and trailing by three, 41-38, at halftime after an Owls 3-pointer at the buzzer.
 
The Bearcats matched the visitors from Philadelphia throughout the third quarter, tying the game on five separate occasions and taking a 58-57 lead into the final period following free throws from sophomore guard Antoinette Miller (Detroit, Mich./Southfield-Lathrup in the final seconds. UC came out energized to begin the fourth quarter, outscoring Temple 12-6 over the first five minutes. The Owls cut their deficit to just three, 72-69, with 2:30 remaining, but the Red & Black stayed solid down the stretch to seal the victory.
 
Four Bearcats reached double-figure scoring, led by a season-high 17 points, in a reserve role, from sophomore transfer guard Genesis Parker (Bristow, Va./Stonewall Jackson/Virginia Tech). Sophomore forward Angel Rizor (Zebulon, N.C./East Wake) added 14 points -- as well as eight rebounds, three assists, and a block – while freshman forward IImar'I Thomas (Oakland, Calif./Sacred Heart Cathedral Prep) chipped in 14 points, seven rebounds, three assists, and a steal. Furthermore, senior guard Ana Owens (Indianapolis, Ind./Lawrence North) tallied 12 points and five assists.
 
// SCOUTING THE BEARCATS
Currently sidelined with an injury, Goings is leading UC in scoring with 13.1 points per game. Thomas is not far behind with 11.8 points a contest. Owens averages 11.2 points as well as a team-best 4.3 assists. Johnson is posting 9.8 points per, as well as a team-best 6.3 rebounds.
 
A pair of University of Cincinnati women's basketball student-athletes earned American Athletic Conference weekly accolades on Monday with freshman forward Thomas selected as Freshman of the Week, while senior guard Owens was picked for the Weekly Honor Roll. The duo was impressive last week as UC went 2-0 with Thomas averaging 12.5 points, 6.5 rebounds, and 3.0 assists per game, while Owens posted team bests of 19.5 points and 4.5 assists each contest as well as 3.0 rebounds per.
 
After becoming the 26th member of UC women's basketball's 1,000-point club last season, Owens continues her climb up the Bearcats' all-time scoring list. Owens' current 1,321 career points places her 12th. She is on pace to break into the top 10 all-time before season's end.
 
As a team, UC is third in the conference field-goal percentage, shooting 43.8 percent. The Red & Black ranks fourth in the league in both scoring at 68.8 points per contest and scoring defense at 61.7 points. The Bearcats possess a +4.8 rebounding margin which also is fourth best in The American. UC also rounds out the top four in the AAC in both assists each game (15.3) and assist-to-turnover ratio (1.0)
 
Individually on the year, Thomas is tops in the AAC in field-goal percentage at 61.3-percent with Rizor second at 59.8. Owens is second in the conference in free-throw percentage at 91.8-percent and is fourth in The American with 4.3 assists a contest. Johnson is fourth-best in the league in steals with 2.4 a game. In addition, Rizor ranks ninth in the conference in offensive rebounds per contest with 2.8, while sophomore guard Sam Rodgers (Cincinnati, Ohio/Lakota East) knocks down a ninth-in-the-AAC 38.5 percent of her 3-point attempts.
 
// SCOUTING THE TIGERS
Memphis (7-11, 2-3 AAC) fell in a hard-fought contest against No. 23 USF Wednesday evening at the Elma Roane Fieldhouse by a score of 81-62. Memphis had three scorers in double-figures in Cheyenne Creighton, Brea Elmore, and Taylor Barnes. Barnes led Memphis with 18 points, a season-high, while Creighton added 17 and Elmore, 16.
 
For the season, the Tigers are paced by Creighton's 16.1 points a game with Elmore adding 14.9 per. Creighton also grabs a team-best 8.4 rebounds a contest, while Barnes dishes out a Memphis-best 3.2 assists per.
 
UM averages 60.9 points per game, but gives up 42.6 percent shooting to its opponents. The Tigers pull down 34.6 rebounds a contest and distribute 12.6 assists per game. Memphis turns the ball over at a 18.8 rate each time out and bury 4.6 3-pointers a game.
 
In the preseason, Memphis was picked to finish seventh in the 12-team American.
