CINCINNATI - The Bearcats women's tennis team earned their second victory of the season with a 6-1 win over the Wright State Raiders on Saturday night at Western Tennis & Fitness Center.

Ioana Guna and Caroline Morton got the match started with a 6-1 victory. Emma Miceli and Alexia Coutino clinched the doubles point for the Bearcats with a 6-2 victory.

Caroline Morton notched her third singles victory of the season with a 6-2, 6-0 win to get the Bearcats first point in singles. Maria Teixido Garcia saw her first action of the spring season in a 6-2, 6-0 win. Emma Miceli clinched the match victory for the Bearcats as she defeated Luisa Pelayo, 6-4, 6-2. Anna Philp, looking to build on her strong showing against Butler, took the first set, but dropped the second. The third set was a fierce competition, but ultimately Philp was bested. In the final singles match Ioana Guna defeated Karoline Haller in a three set thriller. This marks Guna's second straight singles victory, both having gone to three sets.

"We haven't practiced a lot, this is one of the sports where you come back and it's like you're ready to go. The thing I'm most proud about with this team so far, we are really competing well. I think when you get girls who are new to this dual meet, the way the matches are set up, they are doing a great job. There was adversity, tennis is always a sport where you'll face adversity, we faced some tonight, but these girls aren't batting an eye."

The Bearcats will head north to take on the Dayton Flyers on January 21st. The match will be played at Five Seasons Sports Club and is scheduled to begin at 2:00pm.
