The Turning Point: Despite trailing by as many as 18 points, the Bearcats chipped away and pulled to within three points by halftime before going on a 34-16 run that lasted 9:16 to give Cincinnati its first lead since it led 8-7 at the 16:18 mark in the first half as Jacob Evans III drained a three-point shot at the 15:16 mark for the advantage. After trailing by 18, the Bearcats closed out the game by outscoring the visitors, 65-37, to remain undefeated in the league and move its current home winning streak to 38 in a row while also capturing its 13th win in a row overall.
Leaders: Gary Clark recorded a double-double with 14 points and 10 rebounds to lead four different Bearcats with double-figure scoring that included Kyle Washington scoring a season-high-tying 19 points to lead all scorers. Also added 10 or more points for UC were Jarron Cumberland with 15 and Jacob Evans III with 18. Houston also had four players in double figures, including Corey Davis, Jr., who had a team-high 18 points. Also scoring in double figures for the Cougars were Devin Davis (15), Armoni Brooks (12) and Fabian White, Jr. (10).
// TEAM NOTES
• With the win, Cincinnati improved to 20-2 overall and remained perfect in the American Athletic Conference at 9-0 after securing their 13th win in a row while Houston fell to 16-5 overall and 6-3 in league play. It is the Bearcats longest winning streak since 2013-14 and is the third-longest winning streak under Cronin. UC won 15 game in-a-row in 2010-11.
• IN THE SERIES: With the win, the Bearcats moved to 30-2 overall in the all-time series and 16-0 in home games against the Cougars. Cincinnati also is 14-2 in games played in Houston during the 32-game series.
• The win today extended UC's nation-leading home winning streak to 38 games and also is the Bearcats' 22nd league home game victory in a row. The last time the Bearcats suffered a defeat on their home court came December 29, 2015, inside Fifth Third Arena to Temple in the 2015-16 AAC opener.
• Today's win marks the 1,776th victory in program history and keeps the Bearcats in 15th on the all-time wins list, one ahead of Illinois, who won yesterday.
• HALFTIME REPORT: Cincinnati found itself in an 18-point deficit with 7:24 remaining in the first half of play before going on a 22-7 run to close the stanza and, thanks to a Jacob Evans III trey at the buzzer, climbed to within three, 40-37. Part of that Bearcats' run saw UC outscore Houston, 17-3, in the final 4:04 of the half while keeping the Cougars scoreless for the final 3:10 of play. Gary Clark led the way with 10 points and chipped in four boards while Evans scored nine. Fabian White, Jr., led the way for the visitors with 10 points on 4-of-4 shooting. For the half, UH had climbed as high as 65-percent shooting from the field before finishing the half at 50 percent while the Bearcats shot 46.2 percent from the field in the opening half.
• Cincinnati had its largest comeback of the Mick Cronin Era after trailing by 18 points before coming from behind to win by 10. Previously under Cronin, the Bearcats largest comeback came after erasing a 17-point deficit to down West Virginia, 96-83, in overtime on January 20, 2007. Tonight's deficit was the largest home deficit UC has faced and the second-largest of the year after trailing by 23 at Xavier. The previous largest deficit in a conference game this year was 10 points at USF.
• Cincinnati committed eight turnovers in the first 12 minutes of the game and one in the final 31+ minutes.
• UC stuffed eight Houston shots tonight and the Bearcats have blocked three or more shots in each game this season.
• UC had 14 assists on the night and has tallied double-digit assists in 21 of 22 games this season with 14 or more helpers in 18 games this year and seven straight.
• UC had 17 second-chance points off 12 offensive rebounds and won the battle of the boards by a 39-32 margin (+7). UC has finished +5 or better in rebounding margin in 10 of the last 11 games
• UC held Houston's Rob Gray, who entered the game as the American Athletic Conference's leading scorer (18.7 ppg), to nine points on a 4-for-15 shooting night. It was only the seventh time in Gray's 76-game career he failed to hit double figures.

• Gary Clark, who was named American Athletic Conference Player of the Week for the second-straight week Monday, finished with 14 points and 10 rebounds, his fifth double-double in the last six games, sixth in AAC play and ninth of the 2017-18 season. His 27-career double-doubles are the most of any active players in The American.
• Kyle Washington finished with a game-high 19 points, including a trio of three pointers, tying a career high. The 19 points matches his season high (at UCLA). He also had five rebounds and three blocks. He has hit for double figures 13 times this season and 49 times for his career.
• Jarron Cumberland finished with 15 points, four rebounds, four assists, a block and a steal. He was 7-of-10 from the line with the seven attempts setting a season high and the 10 attempts tying a career best (vs. Lipscomb, 11/26/16).
• Jacob Evans III had 18 points, seven rebounds, five assists and two steals. He has finished in double figures in eight-straihgt games and has finished with four of more assists in eight of the last 10 contests.
