CINCINNATI - The University of Cincinnati women's tennis team opens American Athletic Conference play as the Memphis Tigers come bouncing in to town for a 1 p.m. match on Thursday, February 8.

The Bearcats counting their strong showing, moving to 5-2 following back to back home victories against Miami (OH) and Lipscomb. Alexia Coutino & Emma Miceli highlighted the doubles matches as they went 2-0. In singles Coutino, Miceli, Caroline Morton, Antonella Bramato and Anna Philp were all 2-0 on the weekend.

The Bearcats are led by junior Caroline Morton. Morton commands a 6-0 singles record, with one match unfinished, for the season. Sophomore Anna Philp has quietly put together a three-match win streak of her own as she moved to 4-2 in singles after wins over Miami (OH) and Lipscomb.
Freshman Alexia Coutino & Emma Miceli have been a force on the singles courts, boasting records of 4-3 and 5-2 respectively. Coutino is coming off of a thrilling three set victory against Lipscomb. After dropping the first set and trailing 3-0 in the second set, she rallied to take match and clinch the victory for the Bearcats.

The Tigers will be looking to sharpen their claws and regain their stripes following a loss to #15 Ole Miss. Ole Miss took the first doubles match, but Memphis took the doubles point following upsets at the no. 2 and no. 3 doubles courts. Hanna Sohn and Katherine Cao defeated #22 Suk/Machalova 6-3 on court no. 2, followed right behind on court no. 3 as Claire Sullivan and Josephine Cao defeated #58 Jandric/Vrbenska 7-5. While Ole Miss win the match 4-2, Laura Bente defeated #81 Suk 6-1, 6-2 in singles action.
With their upset victory, Sohn/K. Cao are now ranked #54 in doubles action by ITA.
Memphis enters Thursday's match with a 3-2 record.
