CINCINNATI - The University of Cincinnati Department of Athletics and Sports Administration program are pleased to announce promotional activities in coordination with National Girls and Women in Sports Day (NGWSD) for Saturday, March 31, 2018.
The event is being held in conjunction with several home athletic events including Track & Field's Oliver Nickoloff Open (all day in Gettler Stadium), women's lacrosse hosting Georgetown (noon in Nippert Stadium), baseball taking on Houston (1 p.m. in Marge Schott Stadium) and women's soccer facing Bowling Green (4 p.m. in Nippert Stadium). All events are free for NGWSD participants and their families who register using the form below.
National Girls and Women in Sports Day is celebrated annually around the country to commemorate the achievements of girls and women in athletics. The initiative also aims to promote the continued expansion of opportunities for girls and women to play sports and live physically active lives. The Department of Athletics has partnered with UC's College of Education, Criminal Justice and Human Services (CECH and Sport Administration) to sponsor up to 200 girls in grades K-12 to attend this year's event free of charge. The event is to not only commemorate NGWSD 2018, but to try to educate girls about college degrees in sport administration, as well as careers in the field. Sport administration programs, as well as leadership and management positions in sport, have been traditionally male dominated.
The complimentary package includes a women-in-sports panel, pre-game activities or campus tour, lunch (for the first 200 registrants), and complimentary admission to all four home events for registrants and their families. The festivities begin with check-in at 9:30 a.m. at the Linder Athletic Center.
