DALLAS, Texas - The University of Cincinnati swimming and diving team had success on the first day of competition at the American Athletic Conference Championships on Wednesday.
// PODIUM FINISHES
• In the men's first swimming event of the day, the Bearcats took the title in the 800 yard freestyle relay
• Justin Crew, Hans Kabelka, Din Selmanovic and Toby Van Dyke set a new school record in the effort with a top time of 6:27:03. The previous school record was 6:30:84
• Two UC men made the podium in the 1-meter diving competition
• Mitch Godar placed second with a score of 309.15 and Isaac Karn placed third with a 285.20, a new career-best
• Fellow diver Claire Schuermann finished second in 3-meter after posting a score of 278.40
// OTHER EVENTS
• UC swam the women's 800 freestyle relay in 7:16:90, placing fourth
• The Bearcats women also just missed the podium in the 200 medley relay, finishing fourth with a time of 1:40:79, a school record
• UC's men posted a time of 1:28:98 in the 200 medley relay, finishing in fourth place
