CINCINNATI - The University of Cincinnati women's tennis team returns to action with weekend match ups with the Toledo Rockets and Eastern Kentucky Colonels. The Rockets come blasting in to town on Friday, February 16, for a 5 p.m. match at Western Tennis and Fitness Club. The Bearcats will then head south to Richmond, Ky., to take on the EKU Colonels at 4 p.m. on Saturday, February 17.

The Bearcats moved to 6-2 on the season after opening American Athletic Conference play with a 5-2 victory over Memphis on February 8. The win over Memphis marked the team's third straight victory and sixth victory in the last seven matches.
The match against Memphis was highlighted by thrilling singles victories from Ioana Guna and Alexia Coutino. Guna rallied from being down 5-2 in sets one and two to claim the victory, 7-5, 7-5. Coutino quickly took the first set 6-3, but was pushed to the limit before securing the second set, 7-5, and clinching the match victory.

The Bearcats continue to lean on a strong group of youngsters. Sophomore Anna Philp currently boasts the longest win streak in singles at four matches. The team has three different members, Antonella Bramato, Alexia Coutino and Emma Miceli, that boast three-match win streaks in singles.

The Rockets had a clean ignition sequence, taking down Chicago State, 7-0, to open the season. However, lift-off was a little rough as they dropped matches to Michigan State and Duquesne. They have since corrected those issues during the jettison phase with three straight victories over Cleveland State, Youngstown State and Oakland. They hold an overall season record of 4-2.
Dee Dee Leenabanchong and Colleen O'Brien boast an undefeated record in doubles as they moved to 6-0 with their victory over Oakland.
On the singles side, Kokoro Chishaki holds the longest win streak at four matches with victories against Oakland, Youngstown State, Cleveland State and Duquesne.

Eastern Kentucky enters the match having won four of their last five matches. They hold an overall season record of 4-2. In their most recent outing, they defeated Miami (OH), 4-3.
The Colonels boast two, five match win streaks in singles as Laura Argente and Alexandra Belle both notched their fifth straight wins against Miami (OH).
