DALLAS, Texas - The University of Cincinnati swimming and diving maintained its position in the standings with one day left at the American Athletic Conference Championships. The men continue to lead while the women sit in second place.
// PODIUM FINISHES
• Ryan DePietro finished third in the 400 IM, bringing in a time of 3:53:12. The Bearcats also took fourth and fifth in the event
• The men swept the 200 free, led by a 1:36:83 performance by Hans Kabelka. Din Selmanovic and Justin Crew finished second and third, respectively
• Dominic Polling was second in the 100 breaststroke. He finished in 53.90. Teammate Zach Hostoffer was just behind him to place third
• Mitch Godar made the podium in 3-meter diving. His score of 287.30 was good for third place
• In the 400 medley relay, the Bearcats finished third in 3:41:20 thanks to performances by Lindsey Niehaus, Kennedy Herbert, Simone Palomo and Katherine Gob
• UC's men also placed third in the 400 medley relay. Dominic Polling, Zach Hostoffer, William Sigala and Hans Kabelka swam the event in 3:15:40
// OTHER EVENTS
• In the first event of the night, Samantha Wheatley won the B Final in the 400 IM with a time of 4:18:26
• Simone Palomo swam the 100 butterfly in 54:31, placing fourth
• William Sigala finished fifth in the 100 butterfly with a time of 48:46
• Rocky Laabs was sixth in the 200 free. She came to the wall in 1:49:01
• Kennedy Herbert put forth a time of 1:02:73 in the 100 breaststroke, finishing fifth
• Lindsey Niehaus just missed the podium in the 100 backstroke, swimming the event in 54:42 to place fourth. Katherine Gob was fifth
• The Bearcats also placed fourth in the men's 100 backstroke as Joey Puglessi came to the wall in 49:35
