University of Cincinnati senior Davis Baxter (Nolsenville, Tenn./Ravenwood High School) shot a final-round 4-under par 68 Sunday to finish tied for 35th place at 1-under par 73-74-68=215 at the All-American Intercollegiate in Humble, Texas.

Baxter's 68 tied his career-best single-round score set during his freshman year during the first round of the 2014 Bearcat Invitational. His round Sunday in Houston included an eagle, four birdies, 11 par scores and a pair of bogeys.

The 54-hole tournament at the Golf Club of Houston featured some of the top golf programs in the nation and served as the Bearcats' first event of the spring season.

UC put together its best team score of the three-day event Sunday, recording a 3-under 285 to finish tied for 14th place at 10-over 296-293-285=874. Auburn took the team title, carding a 42-under 274-271-277=822.

UC sophomore Jake Fox (Cincinnati, Ohio/Moeller High School) finished one stroke behind Davis, tying for 44th place at even par 73-70-73=216. Junior Austin Squires (Union, Ky./Ryle High School) tied for 53rd place at 3-over 72-73-74=219. Freshman Nicolas Osterburg (Indianapolis, Ind./Perry Meridian High School) registered his best round of the tournament on Sunday to climb 14 spots, finishing tied for 71st place at 8-over 78-76-70=224. Junior Paul Huber tied for 94th place at 19-over 79-78-78=235.

South Carolina's Keenan Huskey won individual medalist honors, earning a 15-under 68-68-65=201.

// QUOTING HEAD COACH DOUG MARTIN
"I'm very happy with our improvement from round one to round three. We did a very good job staying patient all three days. The first event each spring is always a challenge trying to get back into the competitive mode.

"From an individual standpoint, I'm very pleased and happy for Davis Baxter. Today was a breakthrough for him. He has had the mental challenges that he has fought through and is now on the other side. Jake Fox also played very steady golf all three rounds. We have a quick turnaround as we head to Florida State on Thursday to compete this coming weekend."
