TicketsFERNANDINA BEACH, Fla. – University of Cincinnati women's golf senior Christina Gloor shot a plus-7 151 on Monday during the first two rounds at the Amelia Island Collegiate at Amelia National Golf & Country Club to lead the Bearcats. UC sits in a tie for ninth place on the team leaderboard.

Swinging into the 2018 spring season, Gloor (Mattstetten, Switzerland/ESC La Neuveville) went low during the tournament's first round with an even-par 72 featuring four birdies – two on each of the front and back nine holes. She followed with a second-round 79 including a few missed chances with six bogeys and one double-bogey which dropped her into a tie for 23rd overall out of approximately 80 golfers. Freshman Angela Lopez (Bogotá, Colombia) also carded a solid opening round with a 76 featuring a pair of birdies. Conversely, a subsequent round of 82 placed her into a tie for 54th at the end of day one. Junior Annika Hitt (Mequon, Wis./Homestead) withdrew in the middle of the opening round due to injury, but returned to tie for UC's best round of the day with a 72 in the second including a pair of birdies.

"The team worked hard today," said head coach Janet Carl. "We left shots out there today, but I was proud of the fight the girls put in. We can see big differences in the players' thinking along with shot choices that we worked hard on over the winter. We accomplished a goal of wanting to improve each round, now we need to continue to feel comfortable being back on the golf course. I look forward to the girls' processes becoming more consistent tomorrow and seeing what they can do.
