TicketsHUNTSVILLE, Texas – The University of Cincinnati baseball team dropped a close 3-2 game Friday night in the second part of a double header at Sam Houston State.
The two starting pitchers dueled for most of the game and both teams staged comebacks, with the Bearkats walking off in the bottom of the ninth.

• UC drops to 2-3 on the season while SHSU improves to 4-1.
• David Orndorff pitched well in his first start of the season. He went 6.2 innings with six hits, one walk and one strikeout. He only gave up one run, and that did not come until the seventh inning
• Orndorff faced the minimum amount of batters through the first three innings of the game
• Joey Wiemer earned his first collegiate hit in a big way. Down 2-1, Wiemer battled the count full then hit a two-RBI single in the ninth inning to give UC a 2-1 lead
• Cole Murphy had the Bearcats only extra-base hit. He finished 2-for-2 with a double and a walk

• The Bearkats broke through for the first run of the game when they singled, walked and singled again, all with two outs

• Down to the final pitch with two outs and a full count, Wiemer hit a base hit to left to score two, his first collegiate hit. The single gave UC a 2-1 lead

• Wiemer's big moment was spoiled as a single, double and intentional walk loaded the bases for Sam Houston State. A single down the left field line ended the game and handed SHSU the win
