University of Cincinnati baseball will return home to Marge Schott Stadium sooner than anticipated as UC will take on Northern Kentucky Tuesday, February 27 at 4 p.m.

The Bearcats have also altered their weekend schedule. Due to unplayable field conditions at UT Martin because of inclement weather, the four-game series with the Skyhawks will now be played in Cincinnati. Game times are slated for 1 p.m. Friday, a double header on Saturday beginning at noon and Sunday at noon. More information on the series will come after the completion of the NKU contest. Ticket information is included below.

// THIS WEEK'S TICKET INFORMATION
• Admission to Tuesday's game is free of charge to all fans wishing to attend
• Regular single-game pricing will be in place for the weekend ($5 for adults, $3 for youth/seniors)
• All UC students receive free admission to all home games with a valid ID
• Tickets for the weekend series with UT Martin will only be sold the day of the game, with no online sales available
• The ticket office will open two hours prior to each game
• For Friday's 1 p.m. contest, UC faculty and staff will receive free admission with a valid ID for Faculty and Staff Appreciation Day
• Admission for Saturday's double header will be good for both games

• Season tickets remain available at $50 for adults and $30 for youth and seniors, a great deal now that the home schedule has increased from 25 to 30 games

• They will also be available for purchase at all of this week's home games
 
// SCOUTING THE OPPOSITION
Northern Kentucky is 1-5 to start the 2018 season
• The Norse took one out of three games against ETSU. This past weekend they were swept by Louisiana Monroe
• The Bearcats are 31-15 all-time against the Norse, including a series win last year at home
• The Norse finished the 2017 season with a 25-33 record
 
// CLOSE CALLS
• The Bearcats have battled in every game this season, win or lose, resulting in a lot of close finishes
• The first game of the season was a 3-1 victory, and the second was won 7-4 in extra innings
• In the third and final game of the opening weekend, San Diego needed a walk-off hit to win it
• San Diego received votes in some of the national polls this week
• This past weekend, Sam Houston State took game one by a narrow margin of 5-3
• The second game was decided by a Bearkats walk-off after the Bearcats took the lead in the top of the ninth. It ended in a 3-2 decision
• UC led 5-2 halfway through the series finale at SHSU by ended up losing that contest
• Sam Houston State made it to Super Regionals last season

• Senior shortstop Manny Rodriguez has dazzled with his glove every season, but this year his bat is off to a torrid pace
• Rodriguez ranks second in the conference in total bases, second in slugging percentage, first in sacrifice flies, fifth in batting average and fifth in homeruns
• Nationally, he ranks 48th in slugging percentage and 15th in sacrifice flies
• Rodriguez is hitting .409 through six games with two doubles, one triple and two homeruns for a slugging percentage of .864
• His influx of power is most noticeable: his two homeruns through six games far surpasses his previous three seasons where he totaled just two homeruns in 145 games played
 
// TALL AS TREES
According to a request submitted to all Division-I baseball SID's, Cincinnati has the tallest pitching staff in the country
• The Bearcats' hurlers average a height of 6'4.5"
• Eight UC pitchers are 6'5" or taller and four come in at 6'8" or taller, as listed on the roster
• That beats Kentucky with an average of 6'4", Louisville at 6'3.8" and St. John's at 6'3.5"
