PROVIDENCE, R.I. – University of Cincinnati women's basketball senior Ana Owens has been selected to the final American Athletic Conference Weekly Honor Roll of the 2017-18 regular season, the league office announced Tuesday.
As the Bearcats went 2-1, Owens (Indianapolis, Ind./Lawrence North) was a force with 16.7 points, 3.3 rebounds, and 2.7 assists each contest.
In a 70-52 win at Temple on Feb. 21, the guard totaled 24 points, seven rebounds, and three assists. She followed with a game-high 15 points, to go along with two rebounds and two assists, in a loss at No. 18 USF on Feb. 24. The senior capped the week with 11 points and five assists in a 61-57 win over Houston on Senior Night on Wednesday to help UC clinch the No. 4 seed in the 2018 Aaron's American Athletic Conference Women's Basketball Championship.
Tuesday's accolade is Owens' third weekly honor roll distinction this season and the 10th of her career.
On the season, the Indy native is 20th in the AAC in scoring with 11.2 points per game and fifth in assists with 4.0 each outing. Owens is also near-automatic from the free-throw line, shooting 92 percent from the charity stripe which is second-best in the league. In addition, she ranks 15th in The American with 1.6 3-point field goals made a game and is 12th in assist-to-turnover ratio at 1.3.
