CINCINNATI - The University of Cincinnati Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC), in support of Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MAAD), played host to the 9th Annual Gatorade Pong Tournament on Monday, February 19, with over 100 teams competing in a tournament that raised $2,000 for MAAD. The event, which was held inside the Bubble at the Sheakley Athletics Center, also featured Brian and Nancy Cooper speaking on behalf of MAAD to those in attendance as they shared their personal story and involvement with the organization.
All told, SAAC was able to raise $2,000 to support MAAD and its efforts to end drunk driving, help fight drugged driving, support the victims of these violent crimes and prevent underage drinking.
Once again this year, the event was a large success as the over 100 teams were comprised of student-athletes, athletic department staff, Greek organizations and the general student body. UC students Maura Brenzel and Bobby Buse of team To Infinity and B-Pong won the tournament as they defeated Leedlers, which was comprised of track & field student-athletes Katie Kravitsky and Katrina Patterson, in the final match.
Besides the Gatorade Pong tournament, there were also raffle prizes and food. The Raffle Prizes consisted of gift cards to local restaurants and shops along with UC Under Armour gear and Cincinnati Reds tickets.
