University of Cincinnati baseball will remain home this weekend to host UT Martin for a four-game set. The first game is scheduled for Friday, March 2 at 1 p.m. Saturday will be a double header with the first game at noon and the second game 45 minutes after the completion of the first. The finale is slated for Sunday, March 4 at noon.

// SCOUTING THE OPPOSITION
UT Martin is 1-6 this season and is coming of its first win of the season, a 13-10 victory over No. 13 Southern Mississippi in the second game of a double header last weekend
• The Skyhawks dropped the other two games of last weekend's series by scores of 16-2 and 13-4
• UTM holds a season batting average of .203 and a team ERA of 11.37 entering this weekend's series
 
// CLOSE CALLS
The Bearcats have battled in every game this season, win or lose, resulting in a lot of close finishes
• The first game of the series was a 3-1 victory and the second was won 7-4 in extra innings
• In the third and final game, San Diego needed a walk-off hit to win
• Last weekend, Sam Houston State took game one by a narrow margin of 5-3
• The second game was decided by a Bearkats walk-off after the Bearcats took the lead in the top of the ninth. It ended in a 3-2 score
• UC led 5-2 halfway through the series finale but ended up losing that contest
• In the home-opener on Tuesday, the Bearcats turned the tide and earned a walk-off of their own, winning 5-3 thanks to a ninth-inning, three-run blast by Treg Haberkorn

UC's offensive numbers have seen a bump in production through the first seven games of this season compared to the first seven games played last year
• Overall, the team's batting average is eleven points better, improving from .238 to .249
• The slugging percentage has also improved, as it was .372 last year at this time and is currently .389
• The Bearcats have been reaching base at a better rate, increasing from a .315 on-base percentage to .325
• The team also has two more homeruns and eight more RBI through the first seven games of the season
• UC is in the exact same place when it comes to hits (55) and total bases (86)
 
// A GOOD WEEK FOR THE AMERICAN
• American Athletic Conference teams posted an impressive 8-0 mark during midweek games this week
• On Tuesday, five teams all picked up wins, and three teams (Cincinnati, Houston and Memphis) all won via a walk-off
• The wins continued on Wednesday as ECU beat Old Dominion, Tulane beat Lamar and USF beat Bethune-Cookman
• Entering the week, multiple AAC teams found themselves ranked in the national polls:
