CINCINNATI - The University of Cincinnati lacrosse team returns to action Thursday at 3 p.m. as they play host to Campbell at Gettler Stadium.
Once again in 2018, all home games will be part of the Experience UC initiative, which is geared toward inviting the community to campus to see firsthand the great things about and surrounding the university. Experience UC includes complimentary admission for patrons attending women's basketball, lacrosse, volleyball, women's tennis, men's and women's soccer, swimming and diving and track and field home events.

UC is off to a 5-1 start including its current five-game winning streak. The five wins for the team is fifth-most in a season in 11 varsity campaigns for the Bearcats while the current winning streak ties for the longest in program history (2014). The UC defense has limited opponents to 62 total goals (10.3 goals per game), the fourth-lowest total in program history, while pushing the ball forward for a Bearcats offense that has scored 84 goals (14.0 per game), the most scored in the opening six games of a season in program history.

Campbell is 2-4 on the season and coming off a 20-9 win at Butler Tuesday. CU started the season 0-3 before winning two of their last three games. Melissa Placek leads the way with 18 gaols on the season and MacKenzie Koeller is on her heels with 13 scores. Kayla Reilly has 10 assists while Sam Carey (29) and Placek (27) top the charts in draw controls. Kylie Haarhoff has seen most of the time in net this season with 22 saves to her credti. The Bearcats edged CU 17-16 in Buies Creek last season.

Three goals in the first 10 minutes of the second half helped propel UC to a 12-10 win over Detroit, Monday at Gettler Stadium. The Bearcats (5-1) won their fifth consecutive game and got strong offensive performances from Taylor Gysin, Sam Mlkvy and Monica Borzillo along with a standout defensive performance from goalkeeper Giuliana Durso. Gysin set career highs with four goals on six shots and five ground balls. It is her fourth multiple-goal game of the season. Mlkvy had a hat trick in the first half and also picked up five ground balls while causing three turnovers. Borzillo had a goal and a season-best four assists. She has scored in each of UC's six games this season and has two or more assists in each of the last five games. Borzillo also had four ground balls and caused three turnovers. Durso faced a season-high 34 shots and made a season-best 14 saves.

Through six games, UC has already tied for the fifth-best win total in program history. Over 10 years, UC has won five games twice (2010 & 2018), six games twice (2014 & 2017) and seven games twice (2009 & 2013).

The Bearcats enter Thursday's contest against Campbell on a five-game winning streak, tied for the longest in program history. UC previous ran on a string of five-straight wins in 2014, knocking off Winthrop, Presbyterian, Coastal Carolina, Iona and Detroit Mercy.
// SCHOLAR & ATHLETE
Lauren Hudson was named the American Athletic Conference Female Scholar-Athlete of the Year for at-large sports. Hudson had started and played on the defense in all six of UC's games so far this season, helping limit opponents to 62 total goals (10.3 goals per game), the fourth-lowest total in program history. Academically, Hudson was one of a school-record 50 Bearcats that posted a perfect 4.0 GPA during the fall semester. By being selected for these awards, Hudson will receive a $2,000 scholarship which may be applied to graduate or professional studies.

Monica Borzillo enters Thursday's game on the heels of being named the BIG EAST Attacker of the Week for three consecutive weeks. Borzillo tallied 15 points in wins over Central Michigan and Detroit Mercy in home games, including 10 points over the Chippewas as she scored the Bearcats first four goals of the game and finished with five in the first half. She added three more in the second to break Laura Simanski's school-record mark of seven goals in a game, set on April 30, 2010, at Villanova. Borzillo's eight goals were the most in a single game for a BIG EAST Conference player since Grace Nolan from UConn tallied nine goals against Fairfield on March 19, 2016. Borzillo added a pair of assists to tie her own school record of 10 points in a game, set at Butler on April 1, 2017. She capped the week with one goal and four assists in Monday's win over UDM to help UC to is best start in program history.

GK Giuliana Durso snagged a spot on the BIG EAST Conference Weekly Honor Roll after a pair of standout performances against Central Michigan and Detroit Mercy. Durso recorded 24 saves in the two games and saved 61.5 percent of the shots she faced to push the Bearcats to a 2-0 record on the weekend and earn her first weekly award from the conference. In the opening game of the week, Durso saved 10 shots as the Bearcats downed CMU, 14-6. She followed that up with 14 more saves against the Titans Monday afternoon in a 12-10 victory. For the year, Durso has started all six games and stopped 50 percent of the shots she has faced to help UC to not only its best start in program history, but also tie for the program's longest winning streak at five games.
