CINCINNATI, Ohio – University of Cincinnati baseball lost a twelve-inning, one-run game Friday night to start a three-game series with Tennessee, 3-2.
 
The Bearcats led most of the way and had chances to win it late, but could not break through.
 
// NOTABLES
• UC falls to 7-6 while UT now sits at 9-6 on the season
J.T. Perez pitched well in the start, going 8.0 innings with five hits, one earned run, no walks and five strikeouts
Jarod Yoakam threw 2.0 scoreless innings with one hit, three walks and three strikeouts
Doug Lowe II got the tough-luck loss. He went 2.0 frames with two hits, one earned run, now walks and four strikeouts
Joey Thomas had a nice day at the plate, going 3-for-5 with a RBI
• The Bearcats had a runner on third with one out in the tenth and runners on second and third with one out in the 11th but could not break the 2-2 tie
 
// KEY INNINGS
Bottom of the 2nd

• UC scored a run on a Eric Santiago single and a Thomas base hit to take the early 1-0 lead
Bottom of the 4th
• The Bearcats added to their lead with a run in the fourth. Joey Wiemer singled, stole second and scored when Santiago reached on an error
Top of the 7th
• UT tied the game right before the stretch. After a strikeout, the second batter of the game reached on a fielding error. That runner scored on a triple before the second run came home on a ground out
Top of the 12th
• The ball game was won on a double and single in the final frame

• The two teams resume action on Saturday at 1pm
• Sunday will be the series finale, also at 1pm
