CINCINNATI, Ohio – University of Cincinnati baseball dropped its second game of the weekend against Tennessee, losing 7-5 on Saturday afternoon.
// NOTABLES
• The Bearcats are now 7-7 on the season while Tennessee moves to 10-6
• UC showed some muscle, blasting three homeruns in the game along with a double
• A.J. Bumpass had one of those homeruns and the double, finishing 2-for-4 with two runs scored
• Kyle Mottice and Connor McVey also had two hits on the day while Manny Rodriguez led the team with two RBI
• Cam Alldred had his first loss of the year after going 5.2 innings with three earned runs, six hits, three walks and three strikeouts
• Clayton Colvin struck out three in 2.1 innings of relief with one hit while Tristan Hammans threw the final inning with two strikeouts
• Defense hurt the Bearcats as three errors in the contest allowed three unearned runs to come home

• Bumpass doubled to right to start the scoring opportunity for UC. Mottice singled and both came across home plate on a single by Rodriguez

• Tennessee tied it up with a solo homerun, single, wild pitch and another base hit

• Joey Thomas recorded his first career homerun, a no-doubt shot over the wall in left field to put the Bearcats back into the lead
Top of the 6th
• Mistakes proved costly for UC. A double, walk and steal tied the game back up at three. After an error on a failed pickoff attempt extended the inning, UT would score two more runs on a wild pitch and a base hit
Bottom of the 7th
• Treg Haberkorn hit the Bearcats' second long ball of the day, a solo shot out to right field to make it a one-run game
Top of the 9th
• The Vols plated two runs in the top of the final frame to cement their victory. A single, walk and another error added one run. The second run of the inning came later on a groundout
Bottom of the 9th
• Bumpass capped off his big day with a solo homerun, but the rally was stalled when two strikeouts ended the game
