Bearcats Lose Series Finale with Tennessee 2-1

CINCINNATI – The University of Cincinnati baseball team dropped its final game with Tennessee by a score of 2-1 on Sunday afternoon.
 
// NOTABLES
• UC drops to 7-8 on the season while UT improves to 11-6 with the win
• Nathan Kroger put forth another nice start for the Bearcats. He threw 5.2 innings with no earned runs, no walks, seven hits and six strikeouts
• Cincinnati was out-hit 10-5 in the contest. The Bearcats' only extra-base hit was a double by Eric Santiago in the third inning
 
// KEY INNINGS
Bottom of the 3rd
• After Santiago doubled to lead off the frame, A.J. Bumpass advanced him on a ground out. Santiago then scored on a base hit up the middle by Kyle Mottice
Top of the 5th
• A double, two-out error and a single allowed the Volunteers to tie the game
Top of the 9th
• Tennessee won the game in the final inning by scoring a run on a double and base hit

• UC will travel to Wright State for a midweek contest
• The Bearcats are home again for three games as they host Toledo
