TicketsCINCINNATI – McKenna Rushford, a sophomore on the University of Cincinnati lacrosse team, has been named the BIG EAST Conference Midfielder of the Week, the conference office announced today. The honor marks the second time in three weeks the Bearcats player has been selected for the honor.
Last week, the Bearcats defeated visiting Campbell, 17-10, to move to 6-1 on the year after winning their last six games in a row, surpassing the previous program record of five wins in a row. In the game with the Camels, Rushford finished off her fifth multiple goal game of the season with five scores, the third time she has found the back of the net five or more times this season. She leads the Bearcats with nine free-position goals and 10 caused turnovers. She ranks second in points (32), goals (22), assists (10), draw controls (27), shots (35) and shots on goal (20).
Rushford also ranks in the Top 10 of several BIG EAST statistical categories, including fifth in points per game (4.57), ninth in goals per game (3.14) and 10th in assists per game (1.43). She also stands third in the conference with 1.29 free-position goals per game while her nine FPG rank as the second-most in the league.
UC is currently sitting on top of the BIG EAST standings as the Bearcats have the most wins of any team (six) and the fewest losses (one) so far in 2018. Next up for the Bearcats will be a road trip to Marquette this Sunday as UC will open its final BIG EAST schedule with a noon CT (1 p.m. ET) game in Milwaukee.
