DAYTON, Ohio – University of Cincinnati baseball dropped a 14-8 decision on the road at Wright State Thursday afternoon.
// NOTABLES
• UC is now 7-9 on the season while Wright State sits at 9-6
• There were thirty total hits in the game, including 13 for extra bases
• Only 14 of the game's 22 runs were earned
• Kyle Mottice went 3-for-5 out of the leadoff spot with a double and two RBI
• Connor McVey and A.J. Bumpass both had two hits, one being a homerun, and both also scored two runs
• Freshman Cael Baker earned his first collegiate hit. In a pinch hit appearance with two outs in the ninth, he slugged a triple to left center
• Clayton Colvin was tagged with the tough-luck loss. He threw 1.2 frames with one run, one hit, one walk and one strikeout
• The trio of Doug Lowe II, Jarod Yoakam and Isaac Olson finished the day on the mound for the Bearcats without allowing an earned run

• Wright State took an early lead with the help of some Cincinnati mistakes. The first batter reached on an error. Then a double, walk, fielder's choice and another error allowed two unearned runs to come home
Top of the 2nd
• The Bearcats worked back to take a 3-2 lead in the very next inning. Eric Santiago and Bumpass both walked on four pitches before Treg Haberkorn hit a one-run double to right field
Bottom of the 2nd
• The Raiders answered with a big four-run frame. Two singles and three doubles made up the damage
Top of the 3rd
• McVey got a run back with a solo shot over the field in left field
Bottom of the 3rd
• Another base hit and another Wright State double made it a 7-4 contest

• Bumpass hit a homerun to left field to add one to the Bearcats' tally

• UC held Wright State scoreless then posted three-runs in the next frame. The inning started with a McVey single and stolen base. Joey Wiemer then did the exact same. Joey Thomas followed with a walk to load the bases. Two base hits, by Cole Murphy and Bumpass, gave them each a RBI. Back-to-back fielder's choices left the Bearcats up 8-7

• The Raiders got back in front after a walk and triple, giving them a one-run lead

• Wright State cemented its victory by adding five runs during its last trip to the plate. Two walks and an error began the rally. Two base hits and a wild pitch allowed four more runs to score to put the game at 14-8
