CINCINNATI – The University of Cincinnati baseball team continually worked its way back in Saturday afternoon's game but ultimately dropped the contest with Toledo by a score of 13-7.
 
// NOTABLES
• Cincinnati slips to 8-10 on the season while Toledo moves to 4-12
• Six Bearcats appeared on the mound in the game. Started Cam Alldred was tagged with the loss after going 5.1 innings
Manny Rodriguez had another three-hit day. He finished 3-for-5 with two RBI
Joey Wiemer went 2-for-5 with a double and three runs scored
Cole Murphy also picked up two hits on the day
A.J. Bumpass had the other UC extra-base hit in the game, a timely RBI double in the seventh

Top of the 2nd  
Toledo got the scoring started with a solo homerun
Bottom of the 2nd   
• Cincinnati tied things up when Treg Haberkorn hit a single to the shortstop with bases loaded. His gutsy head-first dive into first base gave him the hit and RBI
Top of the 4th   
• The Rockets took the lead back with a two-run frame. A double, triple and RBI fielder's choice made it a 3-1 game
Top of the 6th
• Toledo added two more on a single, walk, sacrifice bunt and a two-RBI base hit
Bottom of the 6th
• UC got two runs back in the bottom of the sixth frame. Wiemer doubled and Bumpass walked before a RBI single by Murphy scored one. Joey Thomas followed with a base hit to right field to score another
Top of the 7th
• The Rockets padded their lead with three runs before the stretch. A walk, hit batter, error, sacrifice fly and double allowed the runners to come home
Bottom of the 7th
• The Bearcats chipped away at the lead by answering with two runs of their own. Rodriguez singled, Connor McVey walked and Wiemer reached on a fielder's choice to put runners on the corners. A wild pitch allowed Rodriguez to scamper home. Bumpass then blasted a ball off the wall in right field for an RBI double, making it an 8-5 ball game
Bottom of the 8th
• It became a one-run game when UC rallied in the eighth. Haberkorn singled and Kyle Mottice walked before both advanced into scoring position on a wild pitch. Rodriguez came up with his third hit of the night, a two-RBI single to left field to make it 8-7 with an inning left to play
Top of the 9th
• Despite the Bearcats' late rally, the momentum favored the Rockets as they brought five runs home in the final frame to secure the win. Back-to-back homeruns after back-to-back singles brought in four. The final run of the day came on a RBI base hit.

• The series rubber match is set for Sunday at 1 p.m.
• UC will also be home on Tuesday, March 20 to host Miami
