CINCINNATI, Ohio – The University of Cincinnati baseball team split a double header with UT Martin on Saturday, winning the first game 4-3 and losing the second 7-5 in eleven innings.
 
The Bearcats end the day with an even record of 5-5 while the Skyhawks sit at 2-8.

// NOTABLES
• The game had a delayed start of an hour and 45 minutes due to bus problems for the Skyhawks
• A ground out RBI by Joey Wiemer broke a 3-3 tie in the seventh to hand the Bearcats the win
Kyle Mottice, Connor McVey and A.J. Bumpass all had two hits in the game while Bumpass had the only extra-base hit, a double
Clayton Colvin got the win by throwing 2.0 innings in relief with no runs, no hits, one walk and three strikeouts
Jarod Yoakam threw a hitless inning with two strikeouts and David Orndorff got the save in 1.0 inning of work with one strikeout

Bottom of the 3rd

Treg Haberkorn singled, Mottice singled and Manny Rodriguez walked to load the bases. McVey then picked up an RBI with a sacrifice fly. Later in the inning, Bumpass skied a ball in the infield and no defensive player made a play on it, resulting in an unusual infield double that scored two runs and made the game 3-0

The Skyhawks answered and tied the game on two singles and a homerun to left field
Bottom of the 7th
• The game was decided when Mottice singled, Rodriguez dropped a sacrifice bunt, McVey singled and Wiemer grounded out to third base for the go-ahead run

• Mottice continued to have a good day from the top of the order. He went 3-for-6 with two runs and a RBI. He also stole two bases
Eric Santiago also earned three hits with a run and RBI
Mason DeAnna finished 2-for-3 with a double, sacrifice and a walk
• Issac Olson only gave up one hit in 2.0 frames of relief with no walks and three strikeouts
• Yoakam had another nice outing with two hits in 2.0 no walks and four strikeouts
• Orndorff suffered the loss as he gave up four hits and two runs late in the game

Top of the 1st

• UT Martin jumped out to an early lead with three runs on two doubles and an inside-the-park homerun
Bottom of the 1st
• UC replied with a run after back-to-back singles by Mottice and Rodriguez and a fielder's choice RBI by McVey
Bottom of the 2nd
• The game became tied 3-3 with a Santiago single, DeAnna RBI double and a RBI base hit from Mottice
Top of the 6th
• A two-run homerun in the frame after a walk gave the Skyhawks a late edge
Bottom of the 7th
• The Bearcats started chipping away at the lead with a run after the stretch. Mottice singled, stole second, moved on a wild pitch and scored on a ground out by McVey
Bottom of the 8th
• The contest became tied again, this time 5-5. Cole Murphy led off the inning with a double. Jordan Ramey entered the game as a pinch runner and came home on a Santiago single
Top of the 11th
• The final runs were scored on a double and homerun in extra innings

• The series concludes on Sunday in a noon game
• UC will then face its first midweek opponent on Tuesday when the team travels to Indiana on Tuesday
