We want to remind you of recent industry-wide changes which are in effect as a result of the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act passed by congress at the end of 2017. While UC is still evaluating the new federal tax law, some of its implications are clear. As the football season ticket renewal period approaches, here are several important reminders:
Currently, 73% of our student-athletes receive some form of aid. President Pinto has clearly articulated the highest priority to raise scholarship funding, which is why we are reaching out to you and others committed to the success of our student athletes. We must continue to build a strong season ticketholder base and reinforce community support of Bearcats Athletics.

- The 80-percent deduction for priority seating gifts (i.e. ticket-related giving) has been eliminated. Therefore, annual per-seat donations required for season tickets are no longer considered a charitable gift.
- Priority seating gifts are no longer eligible for charitable matching gift programs.
- Donor-advised funds, charitable gift funds and payments from IRAs or private foundations cannot be used to pay for priority seating gifts. However, they can support any 100% deductible fund, including:
- UCATS General Fund (annual student-athlete scholarships)
- Fifth Third Arena or other capital projects
- Scholarship Endowments
- Women's Excellence Fund
