The American Athletic Conference announced Monday that the University of Cincinnati's Manny Rodriguez was named to the weekly Honor Roll for his performance this past weekend in the series against Houston.
Rodriguez had an extra-base hit in all three games, making it six games in a row that he has hit at least one extra-base knock. He doubled in the series-opener, then hit a RBI double in game two and a solo homerun in the final game of the week to lead Cincinnati to the series victory over preseason-favorite Houston. With a hit in each game, Rodriguez has now reached base safely in 27 consecutive games dating back to last season. Six weeks into the season D1Baseball issued its Top 30 Power Rankings of every shortstop in the country with Rodriguez coming in at No. 28.
UC has had four players named to the conference Honor Roll this season. Kyle Mottice was honored on March 5, A.J. Kullman on March 12 and Cam Alldred a week ago on March 26.
The Bearcats remain at home for four games this week. UC welcomes Wright State to Marge Schott Stadium on Tuesday and then hosts Memphis for a three-game series Friday-Sunday.
