University of Cincinnati men's basketball forwards Gary Clark (Clayton, N.C./Clayton High School) and Kyle Washington (Champlin, Minn./NC State) both played well Wednesday in their first games at the Portsmouth Invitational Tournament at the Churchland High School Sports Complex in Portsmouth, Virginia.
The Bearcats duo are among 64 seniors in the nation taking part in the invitation-only, four-day, 12-game tournament in front of representatives from every NBA team as well as more than 30 scouts from teams from Europe and Asia.
Washington scored a game-high 24 points with nine rebounds and two blocks, leading Cherry Bekaert in its 103-93 loss to Sales Systems, Limited. Washington made 8 of 11 attempts from the field with a pair of three-pointers while making all six of his attempts from the foul line.
Clark scored a team-high 14 points, grabbing six rebounds and handing out four assists, helping Mike Duman Auto Sales to an 84-73 win over Portsmouth Partnership. Clark shot 4 of 8 from the field, 3 of 4 from beyond the arc and hit all three free throw attempts while playing a game-high 31 minutes.
Washington's Cherry Bekaert squad takes on Portsmouth Partnership on Thursday at 3:15 p.m. ET.
Clark's Mike Duman Auto Sales unit battles Sales Systems, Limited on Friday at 7 p.m. ET.

Clark and Washington helped the 2017-18 Bearcats to a 31-5 overall record, tying the school mark for wins while claiming the American Athletic Conference regular-season and tournament championships and leading Cincinnati to its eighth consecutive NCAA Tournament appearance.
