Bearcats Gear Up for American Athletic Conference Championship

PALM COAST, Fla. – University of Cincinnati women's golf is set to compete Sunday-Tuesday, April 15-17, at the 2018 American Athletic Conference Women's Golf Championship at the Conservatory Course at Hammock Beach Resort.

PALM COAST, Fla. – University of Cincinnati women's golf is set to compete Sunday-Tuesday, April 15-17, at the 2018 American Athletic Conference Women's Golf Championship at the Conservatory Course at Hammock Beach Resort.
 
The Bearcats will aim for another solid performance at the AAC Championship after recording their highest-ever finish at the tournament with a tie for fifth place and its lowest three-round score with an 888 in 2017. Then-sophomore Anika Hitt had an impressive showing with a three-round 220 – including back-to-back rounds of even-par 72 – to finish in a tie for 13th on the player leaderboard.
 
// THE TOURNAMENT
The stroke play event will span three days with 18 holes played on each of Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday. Tee times will begin each day at 8 a.m. and progress throughout the morning. View complete tee times here.

The 10-team field includes UCF, Cincinnati, ECU, Houston, Memphis, USF, SMU, Tulane, Tulsa, and Wichita State.
 
// LAST TIME OUT
Earlier this week, UC wrapped up play at the 2018 Tulsa Dale McNamara Invitational at Tulsa Country Club in Tulsa, Oklahoma with a final-round 312 to finish the tournament in ninth place. Freshman Vanessa Manrique (Bogotá, Colombia) was UC's top finisher with a three-round 229 to tie for 31st overall out of 70 competitors.
 
After carding rounds of 302 and 308 during Monday's opening two rounds, the Bearcats looked to finish strong on Tuesday. In her first time competing with UC's scoring team since September 2017, Manrique bounced back from a second-round 78 with a career-best round of 75 on Tuesday to move into a tie for 31st on the player leaderboard. Furthermore, her three-round score of 229 was also a career best. Fellow Red & Black Lopez too, improved in the third round with a 76. Lopez progressed each round to finish in a tie for 50th with a 237. In total, UC holed five birdies on Tuesday, featuring two by Manrique and one by Lopez.
