STORRS, Ct. - The University of Cincinnati women's tennis team headed north for an American Athletic Conference match with ECU. The Bearcats found themselves in an early hole but showed the same tenacity and fight that we've seen all season. Unfortunately, they came up just short as ECU took the match in a 4-3 victory.

It was a tough day in doubles as ECU jumped out to quickly take the point.

The Bearcats found themselves in an early 3-0 hole following the doubles decision and early singles play. Caroline Morton notched the first Bearcats point of the day as she fought her way to a 6-4, 6-4 victory on court no. 2. Antonella Bramato quickly followed behind to close the gap between the Bearcats and ECU with a 7-5, 6-1 victory. Emma Miceli tied the match up as she earned her fourth straight victory with a 6-0, 7-6 (9) performance. All of the focus shifted to court no. 1 where Ioana Guna was locked in three set battle. After dropping the first set, Guna rallied to take the second, but came up just short as ECU took the third set and the match.

"Another disappointing 4-3 loss, but a really good effort by our squad. To battle back to 3-all after being down 0-3 against a really solid ECU team just shows how well we competed across the board. We almost stole one today. We'll hope for the same competitiveness tomorrow to wrap up the regular season against another quality conference opponent in UConn."
