Washington Named All-Tournament Team at Portsmouth

University of Cincinnati senior forward Kyle Washington (Champlin, Minn./NC State) was named an all-tournament team selection as play wrapped up at the Portsmouth Invitational Tournament on Saturday night at the Churchland High School Sports Complex in Portsmouth, Virginia.  

Fellow UC senior forward Gary Clark (Clayton, N.C./Clayton High School) also participated in the invitation-only, four-day, 12-game tournament that featured 64 seniors from around the nation competing in front of representatives from every NBA team as well as more than 30 scouts from teams from Europe and Asia.

Washington averaged 16.7 points, 10.7 rebounds, 1.3 blocks and 1.0 steals during his three games played on the Cherry Bekaert squad. He ranked among the tournament leaders in offensive rebounds (tied for second at 3.3), rebounds (third), points (eighth) and blocks (ninth).

Washington posted double-doubles in two of his three games. He produced a game-high 24 points on 8-of-11 shooting with nine rebounds and two blocks in his first game. He tallied 16 points and a game-high 13 rebounds with three steals in game two and registered 10 points and 10 rebounds in his final contest.  

Clark averaged 12.3 points and 5.3 rebounds while shooting 51.9 percent (14 of 27) from the floor and 46.2 percent (6 of 13) from three-point range.  He ranked among the tournament leaders in three-point percentage (seventh) and field goal percentage (ninth).

Clark scored a team-high 14 points with a trio of threes, six rebounds and four assists in his first game with Mike Duman Auto Sales. He scored 12 points and five rebounds with a block and a steal in game two and had 11 points on 5-of-11 shooting from the field with six rebounds and a steal in game three. His team finished fourth in the tournament.

Clark and Washington helped the 2017-18 Bearcats to a 31-5 overall record, tying the school mark for wins while claiming the American Athletic Conference regular-season and tournament championships and leading Cincinnati to its eighth consecutive NCAA Tournament appearance.
