PALM COAST, Fla. – University of Cincinnati women's golf junior Anika Hitt carded a 3-over-par 75 in the second round of the 2018 American Athletic Conference Championship at the Conservatory Course at Hammock Beach Resort.
Hitt (Mequon, Wis./Homestead) moved up from a tie for 26th on the player leaderboard following Sunday's opening round to a tie for 16th after the completion of play on Monday. Collectively, the Bearcats totaled a score of 318 on the day to slot into eighth place on the team leaderboard.

Aiming to make a jump on moving day, Hitt bounced back with a strong performance on the front nine holes of the second round with eight pars before the turn. The junior continued the progression with a birdie on hole No. 10 and two subsequent pars. She went on to split between pars and bogeys on the remaining six holes to turn in a team-best score for the day of 75 to climb 10 spots on the leaderboard.
After shooting an even-par 72 during Sunday's first round to sit in sixth place and stand just three shots off the lead, sophomore Alyssa Burritt (Bellbrook, Ohio/Bellbrook) shot a 40 on the front and a 39 on the back of the second round to drop into a tie for 14th overall. The Red & Black added two additional birdies on holes 10-18 on Monday with senior Christina Gloor (Mattstetten, Switzerland/ESC La Neuveville) marking one on 16 and junior Elizabeth Keeling (Knoxville, Tenn./Farragut) holing one on 13. UC fought to the finish with Keeling going just 1-over-par on the back, while freshman Angela Lopez (Bogotá, Colombia) improved with a score of 39.
