CINCINNATI – University of Cincinnati men's soccer celebrated Alumni Weekend this past weekend with the annual Alumni Game as well as the postseason banquet.

The Bearcats took time over the two days to remember program alum and UC supporter Bob Dobbs who passed away this year. Dobbs, who for his long and distinguished service to Bearcats Athletics, was inducted into the Order of the Black Blazer in 2016. The father of former men's soccer student-athletes Brandon and Justin Dobbs -- who both played at UC in the early 2000's -- was a Bearcat through and through and will be deeply missed.

His legacy lived on throughout the weekend, though, with all participating players at the Alumni Game wearing shirts with Dobbs' name and No. 8 on the back. In addition, with the Dobbs family in attendance, there was a moment of silence prior to the game to remember Bob. The matchup was a fun exhibition with past and present Bearcats sharing the pitch. UC's current crop picked up a 3-1 victory.

With a great turnout featuring more than 30 alumni in attendance, including players from each decade of Bearcats soccer, Sunday's banquet was a joyous celebration. In the awards portion of the program, Dobb's wife, Kim, daughter, Lindsay, and other family members presented senior Christian Hay (Cincinnati, Ohio/Summit Country Day) and junior Peyton Mowery (Troy, Ohio/Troy) with the first-ever Robert Dobbs Bearcat Award.

The hardware continued for Hay as he also took home the inaugural Richard Field Alumni Award for his unwavering commitment to the program. Traveling from out of town to present the award, Field was a member of UC's first intercollegiate men's soccer team in 1973.

A number of team awards were also distributed with freshman Mason Volker (St. Leon, Ind./East Central) winning Most Improved Player, freshman Mads Tranberg (Copenhagen, Denmark) taking home Newcomer of the Year and Defensive Most Valuable Player (MVP), and Sean Clarke (Baltimore, Md./Loyola Blakefield) earning Offensive MVP.
