CINCINNATI – University of Cincinnati women's basketball head coach Michelle Clark-Heard announced Thursday the addition of Heath Alexander to her coaching staff.

"I am excited to announce the addition of Heath Alexander to my staff," said Clark-Heard. "Heath brings a vast variety of coaching experience to our Bearcats program. He has experienced great success as an assistant and most recently as the head coach at Northwest Christian University. In addition, Heath's familiarity with West Coast basketball will allow us to increase our recruiting presence on the national stage."

A four-year NAIA head coaching veteran with a decade of experience at the NCAA Division I level as an assistant, Alexander comes to Clifton after four seasons at the helm at Northwest Christian University (NCU) in Eugene, Oregon.

In 2017-18, NCU completed its best season in school history with its first-ever trip to the NAIA Division II Championship tournament. The Beacons finished the year at 23-7, setting single-season records for wins, conference wins, consecutive wins, points, field goals, and rebounds.

During his four years in Eugene, Alexander guided NCU to unprecedented heights with four-straight playoff appearances including three trips to the CCC semifinals. He also helped develop one NAIA All-American and had six players named NAIA Scholar-Athletes.

Prior to his first head coaching appointment at NCU, Alexander had 10 years of experience as an assistant coach and recruiter at a number of NCAA Division I institutions.

Alexander served four years as an assistant with the Weber State women's basketball team where he was the lead recruiter. He was also heavily involved with player development and scouting efforts. Prior to Weber State, Alexander was at Colorado State for two seasons where he was also in charge of local and national recruiting.

His first collegiate coaching job was at Oregon State under head coach Judy Spoelstra. After one year as the Director of Basketball Operations, Alexander was elevated to an assistant coach position which he held for three seasons. During his tenure, the Beavers advanced to back-to-back postseason WNIT appearances.

Alexander holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Exercise and Movement from the University of Oregon, where he served as a manager with the men's basketball team for four years. Alexander also taught and helped coach basketball at Marist High School in Eugene from 1998-2001.

Alexander is married to Andrea Alexander and they have two boys, Reece and Nolan.
