CINCINNATI – University of Cincinnati baseball continually responded to No. 24 UConn on Saturday night but the Huskies would score the final run in the ninth inning to escape with a 7-6 lead to even the series.
Eleven runs were scored in the first three innings until the game entered a 6-6 deadlock in the fifth.

• UC is now 19-18 on the season and 8-6 in conference play
• UConn sits at 21-12-1 and 6-5
• A.J. Kullman entered the game in relief and threw 5.0 solid innings for the Bearcats. He allowed just one unearned run, three hits and one walk while striking out three
• Connor McVey had a nice night at the plate, going 2-for-3 with a homerun, a walk and two RBI
• Cole Murphy had a double and two RBI. A.J. Bumpass also had two RBI
• The other extra-base hit for UC was a triple by Treg Haberkorn

• The Bearcats answered right away and took the lead with four runs. Joey Thomas, Manny Rodriguez and McVey all walked to load the bases with one out. Bumpass then ripped a single to right field to score two

• UConn tied the game after an error and sacrifice fly
Bottom of the 2nd
• UC took the lead right back when Haberkorn tripled and scored on a sacrifice fly by Thomas
Top of the 3rd
• The Huskies tied the game at five on an error, a single and a double
Bottom of the 3rd
• Once again the tie did not last as McVey hit one out to left center field to put the Bearcats in front 6-5
Top of the 5th
• That lead lasted briefly until UConn tied the game on an error, sacrifice bunt, stolen base and a sacrifice fly
Top of the 9th
• With runners on the corners, the deciding run came home on a passed ball

• The series finale and rubber match is set for Sunday at 1 p.m.
• UC will not have any midweek action due to finals week but will be back home at Marge Schott Stadium to host Kansas next weekend for a non-conference series
