CINCINNATI – University of Cincinnati baseball won the series against Memphis with a 7-2 victory on Saturday.
 
Bearcats' starter Nathan Kroger retired the first ten batters he faced and struck out a career-high seven to lead the way. After allowing his first base runners and his only run allowed in the contest, UC's offense lent its support with a six-run inning.
 
// NOTABLES
• Cincinnati evens out its overall record to 14-14. The Bearcats are now 5-3 in conference play
• Memphis drops to 9-22 and 1-7
• Kroger went 7.0 innings with one run, six hits, two walks and seven strikeouts for his first win of the season
Joey Thomas had two hits on the day with two RBI
A.J. Bumpass also had a two-hit performance
Eric Santiago tied Thomas with a team-high two RBI
• With a fielder's choice in his first at-bat, Manny Rodriguez reached base safely in his 30th consecutive game
 
// KEY INNINGS
Bottom of the 1st
Kyle Mottice led off the bottom of the first with a walk and scored later on an error that occurred as Rodriguez stole second and the ball got loose into the outfield

• Memphis responded and tied the game a few frames later on three singles
Bottom of the 4th  
• UC broke the game open in the bottom of the inning with six runs. Bumpass singled before Wiemer reached on a fielder's choice and an error allowed Bumpass to stay on base. Dondrae Bremner doubled one run in before Santago smacked a two-RBI base hit. Two more singles courtesy of Mottice and Thomas made it a 7-1 game

• A walk and a double added another tally for Memphis
