Bearcats Furthering Development During Summer

CINCINNATI – University of Cincinnati men's soccer is continuing to progress throughout the summer with a number of student-athletes competing with developmental teams in the National Premier Soccer League (NPSL), Premier Development League (PDL), Major League Soccer (MLS) academies, as well as League1 in Ontario, Canada.

CINCINNATI – University of Cincinnati men's soccer is continuing to progress throughout the summer with a number of student-athletes competing with developmental teams in the National Premier Soccer League (NPSL), Premier Development League (PDL), Major League Soccer (MLS) academies, as well as League1 in Ontario, Canada.
 
Three Bearcats are staying in the Queen City for the summer with Noah Lawrence (Mitchellville, Md.), Ryan Melink (Loveland, Ohio/Loveland), and Austin Smythe (Cincinnati, Ohio/Summit Country Day/Radford) each competing with the Cincinnati Dutch Lions of the PDL. Also remaining in Southwest Ohio, Peyton Mowery (Troy, Ohio/Troy) and Mason Volker (St. Leon, Ind./East Central) will both be in action with the Dayton Dutch Lions. 
 
Competing in the NPSL, a handful of UC student-athletes are returning to their home areas for the summer with Sean Clarke (Baltimore, Md./Loyola Blakefield) and newcomer Jeff Schaefer (Timonium, Md./Calvert Hall/Gettysburg College) suiting up for FC Baltimore, Cameron Panley (Beverly Hills, Mich./Brother Rice) with Oakland County FC, Pearce Skinner (Grand Blanc, Mich./Grand Blanc) with Detroit City FC, and Aerin West (Sylvania, Ohio/Northview) with Toledo Villa FC.
 
A pair of Bearcats will be showcasing their talents with MLS development academies with Elias Helbig (Denver, Colo./East/Creighton) joining the Colorado Rapids U23 team, while Mads Tranberg (Copenhagen, Denmark) links up with the DC United U23s.
 
In addition, UC's Canadian duo of Daniel Oginni (Mississauga, Ontario/King's Christian Collegiate) and Darryn Commissiong (Pickering, Ontario/St. Mary Catholic) will be in action north of the border in League1 Ontario with Oginni competing with Sigma FC, while Commissiong plays with Vaughan SC.
 
An annual occurrence for the Bearcats, 11 student-athletes spent their summers competing with developmental squads in 2017 with Mowery helping guide Dayton Dynamo FC to the NPSL Midwest Region semifinals.
