CINCINNATI – University of Cincinnati baseball took down Ohio State 14-4 on Tuesday in a seven-inning matinee for the team's annual Education Day.
The Bearcats were firing on all cylinders as every starter had either a RBI or a hit and pitchers Garrett Schoenle and Isaac Olson performed well. Two-out hitting was key, as Kyle Mottice and Treg Haberkorn both had extra-base hits with bases loaded and two outs.

• Schoenle shined in the first start of his career. In 4.0 innings he allowed just one run and one hit while striking out seven for his first collegiate win

• Connor McVey went 4-for-5 at the plate with a double, RBI, stolen base and two runs scored
• Haberkorn was 2-for-3 with a double, two walks and three RBI
• Joey Wiemer was 2-for-2 with two walks and three runs scored
• Cole Murphy also had a two-hit day with a double, walk, run and RBI

• Ohio State took its only lead of the game on a solo homerun. Schoenle struck out the next two batters
Bottom of the 3rd
• UC took the lead soon after. Mottice walked and McVey and Manny Rodriguez singled to load the bases. A.J. Bumpass then hit a sacrifice fly to get the scoring started. Murphy came up with a big double to right center to score two
Top of the 5th
• The Buckeyes put some pressure on with two runs in the fifth. Two walks, an error, and two singles made a two-run game. OSU had bases loaded with one out, but a double play ended the threat and kept the game at 4-3
Bottom of the 5th
• That defensive stop helped the bats rally for a five-run frame. Bumpass was hit, Murphy walked and Wiemer singled on a bunt. Instead of loading the bases, all runners advanced and Bumpass scored on the play when the throw to first sailed high. Haberkorn walked to load the bases. With two outs later on in the inning, Mottice cleared the bases with a triple down the right field line. McVey hit a base hit to score Mottice
Bottom of the 6th
• A single tally came home when Wiemer, Haberkorn and Dondrae Bremner all singled
Bottom of the 7th
• The game would end with two outs in the bottom of the seventh inning after the Bearcats took a ten-run lead. Mottice was hit by a pitch, moved to second on a wild pitch and advanced to third on a double by McVey. Rodriguez was then hit to load the bases. Wiemer was hit later on to score a run. Haberkorn ended the game with a bases-clearing double to make it 14-4

• The final three games of the regular season will be played Thursday, May 17 through Saturday, May 19 with a three game series against USF at Marge Schott Stadium
