University of Cincinnati volleyball has released its schedule for the 2018 fall season. The schedule includes matchups with seven teams that participated in NCAA postseason play and six home weekends of action. Two top 25 teams from last season and two top 50 teams from 2017 are also included as opponents as the Bearcats face a competitive schedule that will prepare them well for postseason play.
The 2018 season will begin August 24-25 with a tournament at nearby Miami in Oxford, Ohio. St. Louis and UC Santa Barbara will also be included on the opening weekend slate. The following week the Bearcats will travel to Colorado State for a round-robin tournament with the Rams, TCU and Florida State. UC will remain on the road to face off with Duke, Coastal Carolina and ETSU September 7-8 in Durham, N.C.
The Bearcats' home opener is set for September 14-15 with games against crosstown rival Xavier and Indiana and EKU. Saturday's game against crosstown rival Xavier will be the program's annual alumnae weekend. UC will then play a midweek contest at WKU on Tuesday, September 18.
The American Athletic Conference season will begin on the road facing ECU, who the Bearcats finished the season with last year. The conference-opener is scheduled for Friday, September 21. UC will have a bye the first Sunday of AAC play.
September 28 and 30 UC will host SMU and Houston. The next two weekends will be on the road. Cincinnati will make the trip to Temple and UConn the first weekend in October and Tulsa and Wichita State October 12 and 14. UC will take a short break from conference action to travel to nearby Dayton for a match on Wednesday, October 17.
The Bearcats will return home October 19 and 21 to host the Florida schools, USF and UCF. They will then hit the road again to take on Memphis and Tulane.
November will begin with home matches against Wichita State and Tulsa on November 2 and 4. On November 9 and 11 UC will travel south to UCF and USF.
