WICHITA, Kan. – University of Cincinnati baseball took the series from Wichita State with a 5-1 victory in the series finale on Sunday.
Cam Alldred led the way on the mound with a career-high ten strikeouts through 7.0 innings. He allowed just one run and three hits in the effort and only walked two batters. Garrett Schoenle followed and continued to impress as he earned the save, his second in as many outings in his young career. Schoenle did not allow a hit with two strikeouts in the final two frames.

• The Bearcats took the lead in the next inning. Connor McVey led off with a single and ran home when Wiemer doubled down the left field line. McVey slid into home head first and looked to score easily, but he was called out. However, UC would score on the very next pitch as Wiemer scampered home on a passed ball
Top of the 9th
• The big inning of the day was the final one with UC putting up a three-spot. Santiago reached on a catcher's interference and Dondrae Bremner reached on an error on a sacrifice bunt attempt. Haberkorn then smashed a ball over the right field wall for a three-run homerun and a 5-1 lead.

• UC will travel for midweek action this upcoming week with a 3 p.m. game at Xavier on Tuesday and a 6 p.m. contest at Louisville on Wednesday
