University of Cincinnati volleyball Associate Head Coach Philip White helped coach the U.S. Collegiate National Team to a 4-1 record during a ten-day trip to China May 20-May 31.

The team played professional teams from the Chinese Volleyball League while also taking the time to visit sites such as Tiananmen Square, the Forbidden City and the Great Wall of China. The U.S. roster was comprised of seven 2017 AVCA All-Americans from all across the country.

White was an assistant coach, working specifically with the team's offense. This was his second consecutive international summer trip with U.S. Volleyball.

"I've learned so much," said White. "I think the goals of U.S. Volleyball, it helped me as a coach and raised my expectations for what I wanted to bring back to the UC program and team."

White will be heading back overseas as the Bearcats ready for an eleven-day trip to Europe for UC's summer international tour.

"We have this unique opportunity to go on our foreign tour, and I think what I've learned will benefit us a lot," said White. "Going in and coaching players that you've only had one or two practices with and then you might play six or seven matches, it's a challenge. And now with a lot of new freshman coming in, it's a great dress rehearsal for what we are faced with here. Now I can help our players bridge that gap faster."

The Bearcats leave on Monday, June 11 and will visit five different countries in Europe with multiple competitions and cultural events planned. The team will have a blog of every day's activities on GoBearcats.com.
