NORFOLK, Va. – The College Swimming and Diving Coaches Association of America announced its Scholar All-America teams for the spring 2018 semester on Tuesday with both the University of Cincinnati's men's and women's teams earning recognition.
The CSCAA handed out the distinction to 710 teams across all NCAA, NAIA and NJCAA divisions. To qualify, teams must have a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or higher for the semester.
Both UC swimming and diving programs posted the highest GPA's ever and had the best GPAs in the American Athletic Conference. The women's team tied for the 15-th-highest GPA in Division I with a 3.63 team GPA. Eight student-athletes posted perfect 4.0's while 29 Bearcats were named to the Honor Roll (3.0+) and 23 made the Dean's List (3.4+). The men had a cumulative GPA of 3.29 with three 4.0's, 20 on Honor Roll and 13 on the Dean's List.
The success in the classroom mirrored the program's success in the pool as the men's team won its first American Athletic Conference Championship in February and the women finished runner-up. UC will be back to competition this fall, looking to build on the historic 2017-18 season.
