CINCINNATI - Former University of Cincinnati offensive tackle Eric Lefeld was named to the American Athletic Conference's Fifth Anniversary Team Monday, the league office announced.
Lefeld was a three-time, first-team all-conference selection for the Bearcats between 2011-2014.
He was one of 30 current and former AAC players named to the fifth anniversary team. Voting for the team was conducted in late June and early July. The team was selected based on three components – a fan vote, a vote of local and national media members, and a vote of the conference's 12 football programs.
The honorees include NCAA record-holders, All-America players, Heisman Trophy candidates and national individual award-winners. At least one player from all 12 current American Athletic Conference teams was voted to the team.
Lefeld was one of the anchors of UC's line in 2014. The Bearcats' offense ranked in the top five in the American in scoring offense (2/35.4), passing offense (2/300.2), rushing offense (4/157.6) and total offense (2/457.8) and surrendered only 16 sacks, second in the league.
He was a 13-game starter in 2013 and a unanimous First- Team All-AAC selection. He was part of an offensive line unit that allowed only 12 sacks during the regular season, leading the American and tied for 11th best in the NCAA FBS.
