Marquise Copeland Named To Two Watch Lists

CINCINNATI - University of Cincinnati senior DT Marquise Copeland (Cleveland, Ohio/Bedford) was named to the watch lists for the Outland and Nagurski Trophies, the Football Writers Association of American announced Tuesday.

CINCINNATI - University of Cincinnati senior DT Marquise Copeland (Cleveland, Ohio/Bedford) was named to the watch lists for the Outland and Nagurski Trophies, the Football Writers Association of American announced Tuesday.
 
The Outland Trophy, presented by the National Foundation for Infectious Diseases, recognizes the nation's best interior lineman while the Nagurski Trophy, presented by the Charlotte Touchdown Club, honors the defensive player of the year in the NCAA FBS.
 
Copeland is one of 82 interior lineman on the Outland Trophy watch list and one of 97 defensive standouts on the Nagurski list.
 
He earned Honorable Mention All-AAC accolades a year ago. He was a 12-game starter at defensive tackle, setting career highs with 63 tackles, 8.0 tackles for a loss and a team-high 3.5 sacks. He set a career high with 10 tackles and a QB hurry against UConn in the season finale. He was named a preseason First-Team All-American Athletic Conference selection by Athlon Sports in May 2018.
