BELLBROOK, Ohio – University of Cincinnati women's golf junior Alyssa Burritt (Bellbrook, Ohio/Bellbrook) defended her Dayton Women's Metropolitan title over the weekend with a three-round score of 214 to win the 2018 trophy at Sugar Valley Golf Club.

Burritt's seven-stroke victory was bolstered by an opening-round 71, a tournament-best 70 in the second, and a final-round 73. With former UC teammate Elizabeth Keeling (Knoxville, Tenn./Farragut) as her caddie, she finished the tournament at one over par. Her total score of 214 was a seven-stroke improvement over her 221 which won the 2017 championship.

During Thursday's opening round, the Bellbrook native birdied holes 1 and 18, while holding par on 14 holes. On Friday, Burritt holed a birdie on No. 8 and saved par over 15 holes. She fought to the finish with two birdies and seven pars on the back nine of the final round to run away with the title.

On the men's side, Dayton's Nicolas Paxson won the championship with a four-round, eight-under-par 276.

Burritt enters the 2018-19 season for the Bearcats as the team's top returning scorer with a 76.9 scoring average last season. Over 32 rounds of play in 2017-18, her best score of the season was a 71 during the second rounds at both the FIU Pat Bradley Invitational and the North Florida Collegiate. She was UC's top finisher at the 2018 American Athletic Conference Championship with a tie for 12th place overall.
