The lone goal in the 42' of play with hustle leading to the score. The ball was played down the right side where rookie Emi Carlo raced past a defender, collected the ball and cut back into the box near the end line. She then slipped a pass to Abbott, who was rushing toward the goal from the top of the box. There, Abbott's first touch moved the keeper out of the way, allowing Abbott to hit the ball into the net and put the hosts ahead, 1-0.

// NOTING THE KEEPERS
Claudia Eustaquio saw the majority of the minutes in goal as she started the contest and played the first 55 minutes, recording one save and not allowing a goal to be scored. Jane Sensibaugh relieved Eustaquio in the 56' minute and also recorded one save in her 35 minutes of action. Sensibaugh also controlled the air around her goal, going up strong to pull a few passes out of the area to thwart the Illini attack.
