EDWARDSVILLE, Ill. – University of Cincinnati men's soccer wrapped up its preseason Friday night with a 0-0 draw at SIUE.

After blanking Detroit Mercy, 2-0, on Monday in the preseason opener at historic Nippert Stadium, the Bearcats continued their preparations for next week's regular-season opener with a tie on the road. UC was aggressive offensively in the opening 45 minutes with two shots on goal – both by redshirt junior Austin Smythe (Cincinnati, Ohio/Summit Country Day/Radford) – and three corner kicks. The Bearcats defense was solid, too, allowing the Cougars zero tries on goal.

Shortening its rotation a bit over the final 45 minutes, UC managed a pair of shots in the second half, while also turning away two SIUE shots on goal with saves by sophomore goalkeeper Noah Lawrence (Mitchellville, Md./Sacred Heart). With five newcomers seeing action on the night, the Bearcats recorded their second-straight shutout in the 0-0 result.
