CINCINNATI - The American Athletic Conference today announced its weekly award winners with University of Cincinnati women's soccer senior Jill Vetere earning a place on the Honor Roll. Vetere played a huge roll in the Bearcats posting two home wins last weekend, including netting the game-winner in overtime to down Northern Kentucky Sunday night in the Riverboat Rivalry match.

// ON A ROLL
Last week, Vetere tallied three points and had a hand in all three goals scored as the Bearcats defeated Wright State, 2-0, Friday night before knocking off the Norse Sunday. In the match with the Raiders, Vetere helped set up the winning goal, although she was not awarded an assist as she played the ball in from the wing to Sydney Kilgore, who collected the pass and made a pair of moves before firing home the shot. The second goal, however, Vetere did pick up an assist as she sent in the free kick from outside the area to the top of the box where Brandi Thomsen redirected the ball toward the goal where Sophie Gorman one-timed the ball into the net to double the UC lead.

In Sunday's rivalry match, Vetere nearly scored twice, but was denied by solid goal keeping from NKU, before she finally found the back of the net. In overtime, UC earned a corner kick with Dee Picou sending the ball into the area, only to see it fly over all players in the middle of the box. The ball did however find Vetere who trapped the ball down and then fired low to the back post and into the side netting to give the Bearcats their third 1-0 win over the Norse in as many years. The game-winner was the second of Vetere's career with UC after she won the match, 1-0, at UConn last year (September 28).

// ADDING TO THE HAUL
Vetere's honor is the second earned by the Bearcats this season after Thomsen was named the rookie of the week last week. All told, Vetere is one of 14 players that have been named to the AAC Weekly Honor Roll since the league formed in 2013. With her selection this week, Vetere has earned the 35th all-time honor roll selection for the Bearcats program.
