The American Athletic Conference announced its first weekly award winners for the 2018 volleyball season on Monday with the University of Cincinnati's Jordan Thompson landing a spot on the weekly honor roll.

Thompson was named to the Miami Best Western Sycamore Inn Invitational all-tournament team on Saturday after averaging 5.62 kills per set with a .305 attack percentage in three matches to start the year. The AAC Preseason Player of the Year was two kills shy of her career best with 27 in the season-opener against UC Santa Barbara, a five-set victory for the Bearcats. In the first match on Saturday against Saint Louis she followed that up with 22 kills in a three-set win. Thompson finished the weekend with 24 kills against host Miami in a close 3-2 defeat. Along with her strong attack, Thompson had a double-double in two matches with 12 digs against UCSB and 11 against Miami. She also added in four blocks and two aces in the three matches.
