The American Athletic Conference announced its weekly awards on Monday with University of Cincinnati's Jordan Thompson claiming Offensive Player of the Week honors for the second week in a row.
Thompson led the Bearcats' attack against a tough schedule at the Duke Invitational. The redshirt-junior averaged 5.46 kills per set in three matches while also serving up four aces. Thompson hit .300 in the team's 3-2 victory over ETSU then followed with a .358 performance in the closing match against Coastal Carolina. She also posted a double-double in Saturday's match with 12 digs to go along with her 25 kills. She reached thirty kills for the third time this season against ETSU, finishing with 31. Thompson was named to the Duke Invitational All-Tournament Team for her tremendous efforts.
The accolade is the latest in a long line for Thompson. She was the AAC Preseason Player of the Year for the third consecutive time. She has been on the all-tournament team all three weekends thus far, including being named tournament MVP and VolleyMob National Player of the Week last week after her performance in the Colorado State Tournament.
