// PRESEASON PREDICTIONS
• Before the 2018 season began, the ACC head coaches selected Wichita State to win the conference with 113 points and six first place votes, and they voted that Cincinnati would finish close behind in second place with 108 points and five first place votes
• Temple was picked third with SMU in fourth and UCF in fifth
• ECU was selected to finish seventh in the AAC during the preseason poll
• Jordan Thompson was named the AAC Preseason Player of the Year for the third-straight time and currently leads the nation in kills, points, kills per set and points per set
• Carly Nolan was a unanimous selected to the AAC Preseason Team
• UC is the only team in the conference to receive votes in this week's AVCA poll
• The Bearcats have received votes for three weeks in a row

The Pirates are 7-3 entering conference play. ECU lost 3-0 at Southern Miss, 3-2 against Hampton and 3-0 at home against Charlotte. The Pirates rank second in the conference in opponent hitting percentage and also rank fourth in service aces and digs
// SERIES HISTORY: BEARCATS vs. PIRATES
Cincinnati holds the all-time record against ECU 11-3. Last season, the two teams played at the end of the schedule with the Pirates taking both matches, 3-2 in Cincinnati and 3-0 at home. In 2016 UC took the only meeting, winning in straight sets in both matches. The Bearcats also swept in the final meeting of 2015 and won the first meeting of 2015 3-1.
