The American Athletic Conference announced its weekly volleyball awards Monday afternoon with University of Cincinnati's Maria Mallon named Offensive Player of the Week and Jordan Thompson named to the Honor Roll.

This marks the fifth week in a row that a Bearcats player has been named the top offensive player in the conference. Thompson earned Offensive Player of the Week the previous four weeks. UC has won every set in three conference matches this year and ranked 19th in the nation in hitting percentage entering last week.

Mallon posted an impressive attack percentage of .622 in two matches as the Bearcats took down SMU and Houston. The freshman collected 4.33 kills per set with 14 Friday night and 12 on Sunday afternoon. She also totaled two blocks against the Cougars with five digs. The award marks the first recognition for Mallon in her UC career.

Thompson put forth another powerful performance this past weekend with 6.83 kills per set, 3.33 digs per set and 0.67 blocks per set. She remains the nation's leader in kills, points, kills per set and points per set and improved her season kills average to 6.27. Thompson also had three aces in the two matches. In fact, both match sweeps ended on a service ace from the redshirt-junior.
